Days 1 - 4: Kaya Mawa Honeymoon Island, Malawi

Upon arrival at Lilongwe Airport, you will be met by a representative of Kaya Mawa and assisted onto your short flight (45minutes) to the Island of Likoma. You will then be transferred to the Lodge.

Accommodation: Seven beautiful, stone and teak framed thatch cottages and a luxurious and intimate honeymoon house.

Kaya Mawa often appears in top 10 lists as one of the world's most romantic destinations. Situated on the southern tip of Likoma Island in Lake Malawi, Kaya Mawa is the ideal place to enjoy the Lake, its people and to relax and enjoy the lodge's many creature comforts.

What makes Kaya Mawa so unique is its stunning location, world class accommodation and a wide range of exciting activities to suit all. A luxurious honeymoon house is tucked away on its own private island and can only be accessed by boat.

Activities at Kaya Mawa during your romantic Malawi travel package include walking and biking around the island, swimming and visit to St. Peters Cathedral.

Swimming and snorkeling are excellent in Lake Malawi, and snorkels and masks are available at the lodge. Other water sports include diving, motorised water sports such as water skiing, tube riding, wake snaking, and sailing safaris.

Days 5 - 8: Mumbo Island, Lake Malawi

This morning you will be flown back to Lilongwe, and met by a representative of Kayak Africa, who will transfer you by road, to the start of your Kayak trip, at Cape Maclear, on Lake Malawi.

Accommodation: In 5 tents on Mombo Island, each on raised platforms with amazing views of Lake Malawi.

Kayak Africa, operating within Lake Malawi National Park offers Malawi accommodation on 2 islands off Cape Maclear - namely Domwe and Mombo.

All trips start at the Kayak Africa base camp, situated on mainland Cape Maclear. One can either Kayak or take a motor boat out to the island - kayaking to Domwe takes about 45 minutes and paddling to Mumbo should take about 1 ½ to 2 hours.

You will be given a safety talk before setting out and there is always a guide to accompany guests to the islands. All kayaking is done on a leisurely basis and cold drinks are taken on board the kayaks.

The facilities on the islands themselves are fairly basic/rustic but comfortable. You can do as much or as little as you like and there are hammocks on each balcony where one can relax between activities.
